Frog Jar № 82336
Frog Jar № 82336
A green frog floats on this pond-inspired jar, surrounded by water-etched lily pads (actual nasturtium leaf imprints). A green glaze covers the jar, pooling in a spectacular blue-green at the base of the lid and the jar. Tiny microcrystals speckle. The frog’s head sticks out of the top of the jar while its feet hang lazily underwater.
This jar’s inspiration came last from summer. It was a wet and rainy one, which left pools of water standing in some deep tire tracks. Each day I walked past them. A few frogs from the local pond started visiting these puddles, taking turns sitting like stones in the warm mud, catching bugs, and enjoying the predator-free habitat. Each day I looked for them. Occasionally I would see them and try to sneak up on them to get a picture. But most of the time they would blend in so well that I would think to myself, “they’re not here today.” I continued to walk by, and inevitably one would hop out of the way just in time to startle me and plop back into the water. I got immense joy out of it. It made me gasp and giggle and feel innocence and pure joy, just like I felt as a child. This jar is the result of my daily joy I find in these frogs. I hope you enjoy it too.
Frog Jar measures approximately 3.75” wide and 3.5” tall to top of frog. Frog head sits .25” high off of lid and body/legs measure approximately 1” long and 1” tall.
Bottom features maker’s stamp and individual piece number 82336.
